Any Albanian citizen has the right to be equipped with biometric passport. Application for a biometric passport is done at each civil offices center. Citizens who are at the age of 16 can apply simultaneously for the two identity documents. In this case the national acts in the same way as electronic ID.

In the case of separate application for national biometric passport operates as follows.

a) Nationals under 16 years old can apply for biometric passport only in the presence of at least one parent, the legal guardian or representative with special proxy. In this case the following documents should be presented:

Withdrawal of the biometric passport can be madeat the distribution offices of the concerned Police Directorate, within 15 days from the date of application . The passport's withdrawal can be carried by the applicant, the legal guardian of citizens under 16 or persons authorized by special proxy and by close family members (spouse, parent, child)

Application for electronic ID can be set in any application center near the local government units.
