Political System
Parliamentary Republic There is an single chamber parliament with140 members. The members of parliament (MPs) are elected, by general elections, once in four year.

 

Head of Parliament
Mrs. Jozefina Topalli, elected from the council is the prime Head of parliament (chairparliamentary) in all parliamentary history of the country and the six-th Head of Parliament (Council Chairwoman) in pluralist parliamentary history, since the year 1991. She took her duty in septembre 2005.

 

The President of the Republic
Mr. Bamir Topi, elected by the People’s Assembly on July 20 th, 2007 for a five-year period.

 

The Chairman of the Council of Ministers
Mr. Sali Berisha (Democratic Party), decreed by the President of the Republic Albania, 2005.

 

The Government
The government is composed of a center-right coalition of parties PD, PR, LSI, PDR, PDI dhe PA.

 

Constitution
The new Constitution of the Republic of Albania was approved by popular referendum on November 28th, 1998.

 

National Day
November 28 th, 1912 (Independence Day).
